Overview
Each week, children will be guided through a range of meditative breathing exercises, poses to challenge and strengthen their mind and body, and activities that can build confidence, improve concentration and calm emotions.
Through regular implementation of meditation, breathing techniques and yoga practice, children may begin to make links between their thoughts, emotions and behaviours. They will begin to understand how their emotions and actions affect others as well as how to calm their minds and bodies in stressful situations.
As well as focusing on the mind and emotional wellbeing, children will be engaged in physical exercises which can improve balance, coordination, core strength and flexibility. Practising different stretching techniques can support students' focus during learning experiences and relieve tension from long periods of sitting.
Our passionate and qualified instructors will utilise a range of games, music, movement and stories to capture the interest of your students as well as challenging them to attempt a range of balance poses.
Educators will be provided with additional activities, lesson plans, resources and short meditation and yoga sequences to use for further classroom support.
Occupational Therapy links to Yoga
The focus of OT support for children is to help them build strength through gross and fine motor skills, sensory processing, attention and behaviour regulation and social skills.
Regular mindfulness activities practised routinely and correctly, even in short durations, can greatly improve children's focus, core strength, proprioception and engagement, as well as support wellbeing and relationships.
