Mindfulness Activities
Daily meditation practice has proven to benefit children and adults, calming their senses to better respond and engage in a range of situations. Our intentions are to provide you with simple and easy to apply strategies, activities and routines which can be integrated into your daily lessons and curriculum goals.
Educators will be provided with customised lessons and activities to meet the needs of the students in all year levels.
Daily practice of meditation can improve your memory, help you to have better mental clarity and reduce hyperactivity. Yoga and meditation assist in reducing anxiety, aggression and improve self and social relationships. Studies have proven that this practice is especially helpful for children with ASD, other learning disorders and children with low self esteem.
Weekly yoga and dance practise has been proven to increase physical strength and flexibility. It refines balance and coordination as well as improving concentration. When connecting breath to movement children will learn to be more in control of their thoughts and feelings and connect this practice to other areas of their life.
Mindfulness practice helps to boost self esteem and confidence and strengthens the mind-body-spirit connection. Children become more connected to their learning and friendships, build positive emotions, are more engaged and manage their feelings in a positive way.
Originally from Maine in the USA, Serena has had a passion for movement, mindfulness and natural ways to improve health and focus for 20 years. She has taught yoga and primary school in three countries and in five Australian states and territories (including the Torres Strait) through which she has gained an understanding of the way children learn, connect and build relationships with themselves and others.
Combining movement, meditation and mindfulness in the classroom setting, Serena has watched children blossom and build positive relationships with themselves, their learning and their peers. She is eager to share this passion and knowledge with teachers, parents and children to build a culture of mindfulness, self-confidence and positive self talk in and out of the classroom.
We offer a range of experiences designed for childcare, preschool, primary and high school students aimed at supporting mental and physical health and well being. Our programs are tailored to suit all age groups and can be modified to suit the needs of both your students and school's focus.
